The European Union is at odds with Poland and Hungary. They take issue with the illiberal policies of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. They also take issue with Poland's judicial reforms. Last year they agreed a new mechanism to withhold funding from Poland and Hungary if they continue to refuse to make reforms according to the European Union agenda. Poland and Hungary have legally challenged the decision. The advocate general has concluded that the European Court of Justice should dismiss their legal challenge.
